When the wife's away, the brussels sprouts will play

Lynette was late at work tonight for parent/teacher conferences so I took the opportunity to make half of the brussels sprouts we received in this week's Greener Grocer.  She's not a fan of brussels sprouts.  I however, have just recently become acquainted with them.

I chose to cook them in nature's second best cooking lubricant...bacon grease.  The first best being butter of course.  I sauteed half a shallot and a clove of garlic with them along with some salt and pepper.  I made some elbow macaroni and mixed some disappointing store bought alfredo sauce to go along with them.

Overall, dinner was delicious.  I'll make the alfredo sauce the next time, but we had a jar that needed used, and I was feeling a little lazy.

Lynette thinks she's glad she missed out on the brussels sprouts. I hope to change her mind someday.

Mmmm I love brussel sprouts! I roast them, quarter and saute with olive oil and almonds, and have even made a cheesy brussel sprout gratin.
